WhichPet is an independent, illustrated field guide to choosing an animal — built to help you weigh what you can give against what an animal honestly needs.

What this is

Hundreds of breeds and species, each with plain-language notes on temperament, daily needs, cost and what to expect as it grows. A match tool turns your real circumstances — space, time, experience, budget — into a shortlist that actually fits, instead of whatever looks cutest.

What this isn't

We don't sell, broker or rehome animals, and we never will. There are no listings and no transactions here — only information. When you're ready, get your animal from a responsible breeder who health-tests, or from a reputable rescue.

How to read it

Cost figures are rough cross-breed estimates for orientation, not quotes. Health notes are general, size-based guidance to help you ask the right questions — not a substitute for a vet. Where we don't have solid data for something, we leave it out rather than guess.
