Nature of this service
WhichPet is an independent, editorial field guide to companion animals. It compiles general information about breeds and species — their temperament, daily needs, typical costs and what to expect as they grow — to help people decide which animal might suit them. WhichPet does not sell, broker or rehome animals and facilitates no transactions; there are no listings and no purchases on this site.

2. Your inputs stay in your browser
WhichPet does not require an account, and it does not transmit your inputs to me. The match finder and the cost calculator run entirely in your browser; your answers and the calculator's state, together with your cookie choice, are stored locally on your own device and are not sent to or seen by me.
3. Hosting
This website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages, USA). When the site is accessed, technically necessary data (e.g. IP address, date and time of access, the file requested, browser type) is processed in server log files. This processing serves the provision and security of the website on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest).
4. Advertising
This website is intended to be financed through advertising. Advertising is not active yet. Once it is activated, an advertising service (e.g. Google AdSense, Google Ireland Ltd.) may be used; such a provider may use cookies and similar technologies to display ads and measure their performance, and data such as your IP address and usage behaviour may be processed. This will only take place to the extent that you have consented (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), which you can give or decline via the cookie banner and withdraw at any time.
