Rabbits
52 recognized breeds, from dwarfs to gentle giants.
52 entries
Rabbits are often mis-sold as easy “starter” pets — they’re not. They’re social, ground-loving animals that do best in bonded pairs, need room to run, a hay-based diet, daily care and, for some breeds, regular grooming. Most also dislike being picked up, which surprises families expecting a cuddly lap pet.
A rabbit commonly lives 8 to 12 years. The breeds below differ mainly in size — from dwarf to giant — and coat, with wool breeds needing frequent brushing to stay mat-free.
